I haven’t had a coffee for approx a month. Never thought I’d see the day that a stint at coffee-abstinence would last so long. What drives it? Initially a very bad bout of insomnia – I felt so bad, so wired up, I couldn’t contemplate having caffeine, so just stopped. My insomnia is no more (took a few other measures too) but I’m very nervous about starting coffee again, and actually, don’t really feel like it. Have been having chai lattes and enjoying them. Baristas can’t ruin a chai latte like they can a coffee latte (except for making them lukewarm), so I don’t have to search out a “safe” cafe, as I used to do. Bought a Chai product from the supermarket, comes from Oz, and it’s not bad, just a little too sweet. So, no more groans and gripes about bad Auckland coffees, in the meantime. For now, things are quite “good enough”! Can’t believe I’ll never have another coffee, but for now………………….
